Metro Parks Bike & Hike Trail
This 33.5-mile trail is operated by the Metro Parks, Serving Summit County and is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. The trail follows the course of the old Akron, Bedford & Cleveland (ABC) Railroad. East of state Route 91 in Munroe Falls, the trail parallels a scenic section of the Cuyahoga River and is home to a variety of wildlife including Great Blue Herons, Canada geese and many ducks. South of Boston Mills Road in Boston Heights, the Sharon Conglomerate rock walls of the Boston Ledges rise along the trail. Farther north, the trail travels along Brandywine Road where a parking lot near the bridge spanning Interstate 271 offers rest and a view of Brandywine Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in the state.
This trail is paved although portions of it use neighborhood streets. Cyclists are advised to follow green biking signs posted throughout neighborhoods to rejoin the established trail. Parking lots are located at: state Route 303 (Streetsboro Road) in Boston Heights; Barlow Road in Hudson; Kent, Springdale and Stow roads in Stow; and state Route 91 (Main Street) in Munroe Falls. Restrooms are available at the lots located at state Routes 91 and 303 and Springdale and Stow roads.
Helmets are required and riders under 16 must be accompanied by adults to participate in Metro Parks events.
